Dedham Natural Wonders aims to increase awareness and promote appreciation and stewardship of the biodiversity in Dedham’s open spaces. I hope to do this by sharing stories about my adventures, snapshots of the beautiful and crazy things I find, and links to local organizations and online tools to help you learn more about what you find in the woods, swamps, meadows, or your own backyard.

More than one third of the town of Dedham is open space, including 900 acres of wetlands, 600 acres of woodlands, and hundreds of acres of parks and recreational space. Dedham has many beautiful open spaces with priority habitats for protected plant and animal species and some fascinating natural history. I hope my photos and stories inspire you to go out and explore Dedham’s natural wonders. There is great beauty in our own backyards, and it’s our responsibility to protect it for future generations.
